Dreamforreal went to Toronto to perform ‘Stand Together’ at the Toronto City Hall. Once again ‘Stand Together’ makes another mark for mankind. This time the song rang out for ‘Step by Step’ an organization that was formed in 1997 by George Marcello to promote organ and tissue donation awareness. The event in Toronto was a kick off for his sixth campaign which will involve students carrying the torch of life across the Americas and to honor the students who carried the torch in the previous campaign, SOS 4000. Dreamforreal was honored to be a part of the ceremonies.
‘Dreamforreal’
The trip to Ottawa was a smash. Dreamforreal performed their song ‘Stand Together’ to a very welcoming and enthusiastic crowd at the Canadians for Obama Rally at the First Baptist church on Laurier Drive in Ottawa. Ken Sherman Called to order, Reverend Hunter welcomed everyone. Moving speaches were given by Adrienne Jones, Rick Smith, June Girvan and David de Weerdt. A vibrant and sensational reading was given by Poet ‘Oni’ and ’The Cunningham Sisters’ sweet voices graced the stage with an original composition about Barack Obama. There were smiles, tears and plenty of hugs to go around and now Dreamforreal is back in Halifax and after an appearance at the Unitarian Church fundraiser on February 14th, they are working on new material and arranging future performances.
‘Stand Together’ has been performed at the ECMA’s, the 2008 Human Rights Rally, an Inauguration event for U.S. citizens abroad and at the IWK Children’s Hospital in celebration of their 100th Year Anniversary. The video was featured as video of the week for Martin Luther King Day in The Haligonia, an online news letter. The song also received national media attention when performed at an Obama Rally in Ottawa and is currently being used as the opening music for the program ‘Inner Connection’ on CKDU radio. This great universal and inspirational song is certainly starting to make an impression.
DreamForReal Off To Ottawa
The DreamForReal writing team is off to Ottawa to perform at the ‘Canadians Welcome Obama’ rally during the President’s first national visit.
“What to Wear”!!!
People from all over Canada are boarding planes, trains and automobiles to make their way to Ottawa to express their admiration and respect for the new President and DreamForReal is no exception and now that they have opened Parliament Hill to the public that is exactly where DreamForReal will be along with ‘Canada AM’.
“The Press are Calling”!!! “The Press are Calling”!!!
It started with a phone call from ‘The Globe & Mail’ and a photo shoot for their article about the pilgrimage to Ottawa. Then it was CBC radio’s Sunday Edition and CBC
Television program ‘CBC News World’. Right on their heels were CTV and their early morning news show ‘Canada AM’, and they keep coming.
“How did this Happen”???
Well it helps to have someone on your team with tenacity, determination and passion and in DreamForReal that person would be Catherine Kinsman. Her co-writers endearingly call it the Obama obsession. What ever way you look at it there’s no denying it’s driving force and it has given DreamForReal and their song ‘Stand Together’ a good deal of attention.
Soon after the song ‘Stand Together’ was written the U.S. candidates began revving their engines for the Primaries. It wasn’t long before the songwriting team noticed how well the lyrics of their song resonated with Obama’s message of change, hope and unity. They offered ‘Stand Together’ as an inspirational tool to be used at rallies and fundraisers during the election campaign.
On the final days of this campaign, Catherine Kinsman traveled to Virginia and volunteered for the Democratic Party and witnessed Obama give his final speech on the eve of the election. Once the election was over DreamForReal went to work on the Canadian Government. The song and video were presented to the PM and Foreign Affairs office for consideration, but sadly the schedule was too tight to allow them to perform for President Obama.
Undaunted they decided to book tickets for the Nation’s Capital and went on the hunt for other events taking place in honor of the President’s visit. This is how they discovered the ‘Canadians Welcome Obama’ group and were invited to perform at their rally at the First Baptist Church on Laurier Ave. in Ottawa on the 19th of February between 1:00 and 2:15pm. Within hours of booking this performance the media frenzy erupted and DreamForReal have been swept up in the tornado and who knows what adventures lie ahead. Ottawa Or Bust
